Yes you have to drill several small holes where the snaps will attach to the camper. When I first started it scared me. But if you put sealant under the snaps it is not that much different than putting in a window. You can use window sealant (Putty) or Dicor. I bought mine used and looked it up on the Patt-o-room site and downloaded the installation instructions and that made it pretty simple. First slide the room into your awning slot where the pull strap is now, then put the end walls on with the top braces. Then it is just a matter of seeing and marking the snap locations starting from the top and working down. Not hard once you get started. I bought my snaps for the camper from an auto/boat upholstery shop. Just be sure to seal both under and in the outer center of the male snap you are installing on the face of the camper. You will enjoy all the extra room this will give you.
