At Fernley (not sure about the others) Sketcher-type shoes ("rocking" shoes) are NOT ALLOWED. Many folks use 2 different pairs of shoes and alternate to decrease chance of wear spots on the feet. Some folks swear by New Balance, others not so much. I found some nice lightweight shoes with good arch support, which worked great for 2 seasons. This year I'm gonna have to find the same or similar 'cause they finally wore out.
