You would think it is, but it is not illegal. When you are hired, you are designated exempt or non-exempt. it is explained to you that if you are exempt, you may have to work in the event of a situation that impacts public safety, among other situations, even if there is no pay funding source.

You are given the selection to take the job or not. Everybody takes the job, because they know that the government is stable and that the odds of this happening is slim. Oops, the odds just changed.
There are 800,000 government employees, of which 83% are working at this moment that are not drawing pay because there is no funding source. I know, I am one of them. I will get a paycheck today that covers the week I worked before October 1st. Nothing for work performed after. If you don't like it, don't come in. There are plenty of people that want your job. The unions agreed to this.
There is a bill that has been passed unanimously by the House to back pay all government employees. The White House says it will sign said bill. Harry Reid refuses to bring it to the floor. There is no guarantee that it will pass the Senate. Now who's the blockhead, er, ah blockade?.
People that laugh and make fun of the situation, are stupid and don't understand the impact of what 800,000 people not spending discretionary income will make on them.
So, if you know for certain that someone is getting paid, please PM me the information so that I can work the same deal.
For everyone else, please don't jump on me because I work for the government. I don't like it anymore than you do. I called the Barry and tried to get him to change his mind but he didn't want to listen to me either.
Like I said in my original post, these people make about 15 bucks an hour, didn't have anything to do with this, and are taking a beating for it. Back off them.
