parking facilities not required near New York City

I want to stop near NYC at the end of April of this year. I have checked RV parks and they are quite expensive. I really only want to park and take public transport to stay downtown for 2 or 3 nigh...

It's been awhile - but stayed in NJ. Campground had on-site security.
Express bus stopped right in front - went direct to Transit Authority
terminal in NYC.
IIRC took about 30-45 min each way. Price was right, clean and efficient.

Investigate all your options - call campgrounds in NJ, ask questions.
