Pay for parts up front?
I lost an awning this summer in a bad storm. My insurance is paying for it less my deductible. The repair shop wants me to pay for the awning up front before they'll order it. Is this a common practic...

If you have a cheque in your name only leave it without your signature with the business manager and let him know you'll sign it off when the work is complete.
They hold the cheque for security, you sign off when satisfied, should work for all involved
