They are looking for some sort of commitment on your part. That is not totally out of line. They are spending time, which equates to money, showing you RVs and then negotiating a price. There are many, many people who just do that as a hobby and have no interest (or ability) in buying anything. If the dealer is the least bit reputable (and if they have been there a while, they are) they are not going to steal your credit card or use it to run up a few thousand dollars of charges. If they did, they would have been put out of business and put behind bars long ago.
It is their game and you do need to somewhat play by their rules.
