I agree with the previous post. It is an old tactic. Used to hold on to your car keys, or credit card to keep you from getting up and walking. I had that pulled on me by a dealer I bought several previous vehicles from. $200 deposit to get their bottom line offer. Stupid but I did it then walked because his bottom line didn't change. I called the manager and got my money back and an apology. Then the salesman called. I had to hang up on him because of his language. Turns out he got fired for it.
