Yep, ^^^. If not posted, it is 55 mph. Many localities will have a speed limit sign saying "End" above whatever the posted limit was to indicate the limit is raised to 55 mph. Those that don't, you can usually tell when the houses thin out and you've gone a mile or two without seeing a speed limit sign; 55 mph. We live out in the boonies and have gotten used to the system over many years and I don't really think about it much anymore, but, it does take some getting used to, eventually you develop a "feel" for it. Additionally, out where I am, though the limit may be 55 mph, you'd be foolish to actually try that ddue to the nature and condition of many of the roads.
