First,we camp alot at Pa state parks and wasn't aware about paying more for pet sites.And it depends on the park where you can walk it.Some campgrounds like Locust Lake allow you to walk your dog on the paved trail around the lake.The only restriction is don't take dog into non pet loops.At Pine Grove Furnace you can walk dog down road and walk dog through day area. In Va,they tack a fee onto your site charge.But we were told you don't pay fee when you make a reservation.Some parks hit you with the fee while others don't.Most COE and Forest Service Campgrounds do not charge extra for pets so we tend to prefer them.
