pet fees?

Hello all. Saw something tonight that I haven't seen before. I was looking at campgrounds in Holland mi. Like to make a trip there next spring. Not necessarily during the tulip festival but while they are still bloomed. Anyways I read the fee schedule and it wasn't terrible. Then I saw a pet fee of 3$ a pet. That's $9 for us and it is enough of a difference to look at other places. My question is ...this common at campgrounds? We are newbies. This was our second season as rv ers.

  • We have a toy chihuahua and that fee is almost what she weighs. I agree, if they have dog facilities. Not juat charging for a dog because they can. What about cats?
  • Having two dogs I hate to see this, but don't have a problem paying it. There isn't a place we go that I don't see where someone failed to clean their mess. Worse, some who think they bag it, then leave it lay for someone else to deal with. Just planin stupid.

It is not uncommon anymore. I asked the owner of a campground why he charged for pets and his answer was because people were not picking up after their pets.

If they were paying for someone to patrol the sites and pick up the dog do I suppose it's a fair fee...same as a dog park. Idk I suppose I haven't ruled out the park completely as it looks nice. I suppose I'll have to come to grips with it....or boondock :)
