I know it gets really hot at lots of places. I've been in the Badlands of SD when it was around 100 if I remember correctly and I was up in Iowa just last September when it was around 100 for a few days.
BUT
The difference I see is that Florida starts getting hot and steamy somewhere in April and stays that way till sometime in October when it does start to break. Where I live, it will be mid 90s for a high and no lower then about 75 for a low EVERY DAY. And it will still be over 80 at midnight. It will usually cloud up and thunderstorm about 3:00-4:00 every day in the summer. It's all very constant. I don't even know why we have weather 'people', except to advise us about hurricanes. I usually have my AC running for good by Easter every year. Early in the season I do run it, even if the outside temps are marginal, just to keep the humidity out of the house.
It seemed like even in the hotter areas up north, it at least cooled off a little more at night and there were also breaks in the hot weather.
