I see this in Las Vegas. Bicyclists riding next to the curb with 45mph traffic whizzing by within a few feet of them. And why? Because, for reasons I cannot begin to understand, it's "illegal" to ride a bike on the sidewalk - even if there isn't a pedestrian in sight.
I wonder what's worse.. a collision between a bicycle and a car, or between a bike and a pedestrian..?
Sometimes our laws just don't make much sense to me, especially where there's no room for reasonable and prudent judgment.
In OK, by law a bicycle is a vehicle... and vehicles are not allowed on the sidewalks. Probably similar reasoning in Vegas. Not saying I agree, but that's the way it is.
