Pleated shades, should I tow with them up or down?

I normally tow with my shades up but I just had a fail on one when I arrived at a site last week. The cord was apparently sheathed and it bunched up causing the shade not to work. To prevent additional problems, should I be towing with them in the down position? Seems like the roads are bumpy no matter which direction we go.

Second question; where do people take these to have them restrung?

  • We have a TT so we don's know what it sounds like back there. However, the TT does have pleated blinds that attach to hooks so that they stay in place in the down position while driving. I don't like leaving the blinds open when we are at stores or rest areas because people can look and and see if there is anything inviting to steal.

  • We always put them up. The constant bouncing and rattling when they were open drove us nuts. Never had a problem in either the fiver or the Endura.
