In respons to CA Traveller, what I found in a 30 Amp socket was two 120v lines hooked to the flat connectors and the neutral on the connector that shoul have had the ground, in other words it had 240 volts, neutral and no ground, it should have had one 120v one neutral and one ground.
If I had connected and turned on the brakers I would have had 240 VAC in the RV, the Shure-Gard would probablly have lost all the smoke, and every body knows you can not put the smoke back in.
That was at one camp ground where they had a caracter that did the maintenance and he had no knowledge of electricity, but knew it all, would not listen to any one either.
That is why I ckeck the pedestals with a FLUKE MD73AS3 I will never put my self or any one else in danger.
