I don't know why RV dealerships are so inept. My wife works for a search firm. People call her hourly wanting searches concerning LLC fillings. If she gave the same kind of service that RV owners get from dealers, the company she works for would be out of business. I find most RV dealers are not really proficient in anything except selling RV's. Which really takes very little experience.
It doesn't make any difference how big or small the dealer is.
Whether small like the OP's dealer or huge like Camping World, common sense is not a requirement.
