Portable waste tanks

I use a 25 gallon tote n store for my 30 gallon gray/black tanks. The only time i used it for black duty is valve repair, flushouts, or post hurricane boondocking at home. It as a pain to transport but a needed item for a father of 2 daughters.

I don't disagree that a smaller tote will work. However I would advise a new buyer to purchase a tote equal or larger than their grey tank size for reasons mentioned above.

My 32 gal Barker is a few gallons smaller than my gray tank which is 40 gal.

I think you should try to get a tote as large as your grey tank. If the tank is smaller it will overflow. It is a pain to attempt to empty a 40 gallon tank into a 15 gallon tote:S. Do the math.
Weight of water is not an issue. The larger totes have wheels that allow you to pull the totes like a wagon. You never have to pick up the tote. Pull it over to the truck and tow the tote to the dump station via your hitch.

Agreed but depends on Your family. If you can use the bathhouses and minimize water use, maybe you can be happy with a smaller one. My 14yr old daughter and wife, do not understand the concept and the smaller ones means many trips to the dumping station for ME. I had a 18 gallon one, gave it to a friend after the first season when I bought one of the 27 gallon Thetford Smart Tanks much closer to my 30 gallon holding tanks. I love these tanks because of the connected hose and ease of use. Great product, pricey but worth it. I don't want problems when dealing with gray and black water.

I use ours for both black and gray tanks. I just always do the black first and then once I dump it, come back for the gray and do a second dump.

I don't mean to be critical but I want to point out that if you had a 32 gallon tote. That 30 gallon tank would fit right in. No fuss no muss. But with a smaller 27 gallon tote, you have to be concerned with squeezing in that final 5 gallons.
Pull that handle quick to stop the flow, or dump a partially full tank.
Either way the 32 is just a better solution.

AS far as using the bath house....We never do. I see no point in using a public bathroom if I have a private one:S

No real issue with it being a few gallons smaller. I monitor the tanks pretty closely and generally dump them when they get in the 3/4 range, which is around 22-25 gallons so I have plenty of room. If I'm luckily, with the wife, daughter and I, I end up dumping about every 3rd or 4th day. If it's just me and either the wife OR the daughter, about every 5th or 6th day.

I have the 35 gallon Thetford Smart-tote. Both of my tanks are 32 gallons and I didn't want a portable tank that was going to run over. Yes it is heavy,and depending on the landscape it can be hard to pull, but with the two of us we manage to get it to the hitch and I have no problems after that. I also like NOT having to tilt it to empty it.
Like CincyGus, I have on occasion had to empty the Black tank. But I always follow it with the gray water. The 35 Gallon tank also has the built in "quick rinse" sprayer with hose attachment.

Has anyone used the Tote-N-Stor. It looks Ok and is quite a bit less than the others.

I realize this does not really answer your question but....they do have really nice bathrooms/showers there....or at least they did the last time I was there... but depends if you want to use them or would prefer not to...

X2 These have handles that are specifically designed to go over a ball hitch. These have an indicator that tells you when full, and a small hose to hook into it to wash it out. I use it for Black, then Gray, using thivk rubber gloves. And while I like the fact that the Barker has a valve, the front wheels are not as sturdy. Whatever one you like, they sure come in handy.

I have a 32 gallon 4 wheel side discharge that I have only used a couple of times. 32 gallons is 256 pounds. I can't imagine how big and bulky a 40 gallon would be (both full and empty). I don't want anything bigger.

And, even if they are on wheels, they can still be a pain to move if you are camped in sand/grass/dirt/pea gravel. All of those will do a number on the wheels when you are moving them.
