We're picking up our 2014 323BH this Friday. The 950 is lower than I would prefer but we don't pack heavy. We never carry fresh water, we don't tow with gray and black tanks full etc. When we load stuff from our TT to this camper I will leave behind things I just never used but carried for that just in case. We also can live off 1 full propane tank for an entire season(70+ nights of camping) so I probably won't keep 2 full tanks at the same time. We don't use the furnance but use ceramic heaters.
My philosopy is all things have stated limits by mfr's. There is always a cushion. If they tell you 950 lbs is the max and you pack 1000 you are not going to break an axle or bend a frame. The mfr is not giving you the max the trailer can actually hold. Much like when your gas tank says E or Zero miles to empty you typically have 1-2+ gallons left. They know people will exceed numbers so they are conservative. Keeps the lawsuits down. Who knows how much you can actually pack but I would not be concerned with a few hundred pounds at all.
We love the open layout and we are also a family of 4. Goood luck with your decision. I personnaly think the load range D is fine for a trailer that should weigh about 9k loaded is fine. I don't plan on putting on E rated tires. Will just upgrade them to Maxxis in a year or two. Dealer wanted $300 to move my Maxxis over to their camper. My Maxxis tires are a year old now and they cost about $550 mounted and balanced so I passed. Will pick up new ones after next season or season after.
