What is the best setup? Direct towing or using a car dolly?
That is purely personal preference! I have done both; 4-down with Jeeps and a Dodge Ram 1500 4X4, dolly for our PT Cruiser.
We towed the PT from here to Ringgold, GA and back on a dolly, no problems at all!
IMO, there is no "best". Many say that a dolly is too much trouble and too much work and too much weight. I never found any of that to be true.
Good luck with whatever you decide to use. - FIRE_UPExplorerWell,

Sorry folks, I'm using Imgur but, all I'm posting is the address to the picture, not the picture itself. Hmmmmm. I'll figure this out.
Scott - Dutch_12078Explorer IIOur RAV4 required a Remco transmission lube pump to tow 4-down. It cannot be dolly towed.
