Well yes, but you can poor the hot water on the tank and slide your hand down the side and feel where the propane is. The bottle temp will be cooler where the propane is as the little bit of hot water won't heat that part up. Here in AZ in the summer you will never get frost or cold for that matter. However the hot water will be a warmer spot than where the propane is.
