Propane Regulator

Original Marshall two stage auto changeover lasted 3 years and now this one isn't working (no flow and red indicator on both sides with full tanks) after just 6 years. IIRC the one on my 1981 trailer lasted 25 years.

So how often have you had to replace your auto change over regulator. Just seems they shouldn't fail that often or I just have REALLY BAD LUCK:R

  • I agree on the pigtail. On the pup we had, the original one lasted about 6 months and then quit working. The fridge still ran on propane because it is such low flow, but the furnace wouldn't run and the cooktop would only make a really low, low flame. Asked for advice here and was told the pigtail was probably bad. Replaced it and never had another problem for the remaining 4 years we owned that pup.
  • The one on my 2003 trailer never failed. My new trailer (bought in 2014 failed after 6 months). I guess their not making them like they used too.
  • Check the pigtails from the regulator to your tanks. They have a "no flow" feature also and both of mine failed after about 3 years. My regulator was fine, but both pigtails would not pass gas.

If you have two tanks and only one of them won't flow, try switching the pigtails. If both won't flow your only option that I know of is to get a known good pigtail and try it.
