The risk is far greater that you will be involved in an accident while towing your camper to the campground then the risk of you dying in a fire while filling up with gas with your refrigerator on. So if you don't drive with your refrigerator on because it's too risky, I'm guessing you must be doing all your camping in your backyard.
I have towed a 5th from Vancouver to St. John's, Newfoundland and back. Every winter I tow from BC to Southern California or Arizona and back. plus all the summer camping we do every year in BC and Alberta. I have never towed with propane on or found the need to.
