I have towed a 5th from Vancouver to St. John's, Newfoundland and back. Every winter I tow from BC to Southern California or Arizona and back. plus all the summer camping we do every year in BC and Alberta. I have never towed with propane on or found the need to.
I towed a 5vr FT for 7 yrs all over the USA...coast to coast/border to border with the propane valved in and on.
I have towed campers/trailers for over 40 yrs. and it as always been with propane on.
So I void you out.........1 pro/1 con :B
There are no DOT LAWS/FEDERAL LAWS restricting traveling with propane ON except for those bridges/tunnels & ferries that are clearly marked and noted. Due to the danger of propane accumulating in low areas IF an accident should occur as propane is heavier than air. But that is IF an accident should occur and propane was released.
Since there are no LAWS prohibiting the actual traveling with propane on it comes down to PREFERENCE.
Do or don't-----your choice
Simple.
