It would be interesting to know if anyone does keep stats on this because we continually go around on this subject with no solid evidence to back up any of our opinions.
Like I said, I don't care what people do and I am not saying it is necessarily unsafe. I am just responding to people who maintain it is perfectly safe based on nothing but opinion, or that it is necessary, which in most cases, it really isn't.
BTW, that was in response to a poster who said I must do most of my camping in my back yard.
"Towed RV's do burn up occasionally. There isn't much else to cause a fire in an RV being towed."
It's impossible to prove a negative: "There are no trailer fires caused by propane valves being open". OTOH there should be evidence to support the statement "Trailer firs are caused by propane valves being left open". Please present some evidence to support the proposition and we will consider the number of incidents, and determine if it is a serious, or inconsequential, risk.
I considered the number of RV fires caused by propane valves being open in my decision to travel with mine open. In fact I'm still waiting for some to pop up on the horizon. :)
