My thought would be that you're being "ganged up on" because there are so many more people that feel exactly the opposite of how you do. That makes a lot of people saying you're wrong, and very few people stepping in to say you're right. Being in a minority can be tough some times.
True, you can't prove a negative, but you can prove a positive. You posit that there are accidents/fires caused by traveling with the propane turned on. That should be easy to prove by showing statistics and accident reports. So let's see 'em. Lack of evidence doesn't show proof, but does lend credence to the idea that it's a non-issue.
