Propane

Has anyone ever stopped using propane completely ?

I don't see a big benefit for the cost, unless you plan on boondocking for a week ! Most people camp in warm weather and if you are plugged in, there are always electric space heaters. Induction cook top, InstaPot, microwave or convection oven for cooking. Residential refrigerator (they work better in extreme conditions anyway). Water heater would have a longer recovery time.

Even if I did want to boondock for a night or two, I always carry an old Coleman stove so bacon and eggs in the AM is not a problem. Some disposable propane bottles and a Mr Heater Buddy Heater would be good to knock the chill out in the AM if I was concerned. More storage without a furnace and less weight too.
  • Down here where it can be 110 -115 degrees in the summer I travel with propane on for the fridge.
And of course cooking inside on the stove or the oven is a must have for the wife.
  • I don't understand the point of your post. Where you looking for my permission? You got it, do whatever you want.
  • After a warm day it can get very chilly in the early morning where I mostly camp, so a furnace is necessary for me. Hardly ever plug in. An unvented heater killed a high school idol of mine so I don’t use or recommend them. Run the furnace for outside temps in the 50s? 50s are comfortable!
  • Blasphemy..

You will end up getting banned around here suggesting that one might by chance be able to camp with out propane :W

We use very little propane, we do have a residential fridge conversion so no propane use there..

Water heater is used mainly for washing dishes so not much used there..

Do ALL of our cooking OUTSIDE (charcoal cooking tastes much better than stove or oven cooked food) and when the grill can't be used, it is electric skillet to the rescue so no propane used there..

Furnace, well, we are fair weather campers, absolutely no way do I care for making it a habit to camp in temps below 60 degrees.. Only have had to run the furnace every few years when the night temps drop into the 50s due to crazy spring nights so not much propane used there..

Have had the current trailer for 11 yrs and have only had to fill ONE 30 lb tank..

Has cost me a whole $18 in propane for 11 yrs of camping :B
