When you are camped on a full hookup site, feel free to take the time to do all the procedures that are detailed above, as well as any others you feel like trying.
When you are using the common dump commonly found at state/national parks and many private campgrounds, it is not necessary to get the tank spotless. There are often other campers waiting for you to finish so they can dump. All that is necessary is to dump the contents, never mind the rinse or the flush, whatever is left in the tank will keep until next time. Just be sure to add water to the tank to keep the contents from solidifying and causing the dreaded poop pyramid.
