Protect-A-Tow Problem

I bought a Protect-A-tow and can't see a way of using it. I use a six inch drop on the receiver to get the towbar (Ready Brute Elite) level with the toad which puts the MH bumper eight inches above the bottom of the towbar assembly. If I put the eyebolts in the MH bumper per the instructions the Protect-A-Tow fabric would be stretched tight against the bottom of the receiver and tight against the two protrusions on the bottom of the towbar arms. I’m guessing these would wear some holes in the fabric pretty fast. (The only thing lower than the bumper is the hitch, so there is nothing else for the eyebolts to attach to.) Anybody else have this kind of set up and figured out a way to use the Protect-A-Tow?
  • Do you have a mud flap/gravel guard hanging from the rear of your coach? I put my eyebolts into that.
  • What a great idea MRUSA. I don't have a mudflap but that's an easy addition, problem solved, thank you!
  • I use protect-a-tow with an 8" drop receiver. The fabric isn't all that tight against the drop receiver, and hangs below the towbar arms. I use a BlueOx towbar, maybe the Ready Brute has protrusions the BlueOx doesn't. Over 15k miles towing a Honda Fit and no holes in the fabric. The Fit's front is very low to the ground and contributes to the protect-a-tow hanging under the towbar. That could be a factor, too.
