The Equal-i-zer is not an entry level hitch... not even close to being one. I just bought one to go with my new trailer and absolutely love It. So easy to use. I had a trunnion style chain WDH and a round bar WDH before and they did okay but I like the EQ better. Granted, costs about twice as much. I don't have any experience with a pull rite so can't help you there.
Correct, the EQ is not an entry level hitch, though it's not in the class with a a Pullrite or Hensley, no comparison there.
The entry level hitch is your basic WD hitch with round bars and single friction sway control, like EZ Lift, Husky, etc.
I pulled for 9 years with my entry level EZ Lift and it did fine. Old technology and in fact is still the most common hitch seen on the road today.
Upgraded to the Equalizer when I went to a much bigger trailer.
