Not true at all. There is little comparison between a typical cheap WDH with chains and friction bars added and the Equalizer hitch that does not have chains and does not use friction bars. Equalizer outperforms the other easily.
Two of the three premium hitches use chains? On the Hensley it is an option. What is so bad about chains? The friction bars that you refer to I suspect are the separate add on bars that are not really part of the hitch. Yes, they are different than the Equalizer bars that are incorporated as part of the hitch. On the Equalizer the pivot sockets are the major sway friction point, not the L brackets so it is different but still a friction based hitch.
Even after all this discussion and some folks clearly not agreeing with my observations about the two hitches in comparison, my suggestion to the OP is to go with the PullRite and not look back. It is a custom made hitch for the truck he has and, yes, it does use chains for WD.
