Being a tech and seeking GM all the different brands of tires on the cars that come through the shop, michelins are the worst for early cracking. The best so far are Generals and BFG's. if you want a good on road tire with a decent off road tread go with the BFG Rugged Trail T/A. Or the General AT2. I do go on the sand occasionally and I like the extra traction.
I'm running he General Grabber HTS and they ride very nice and have lasted quite a while. My next set will probably be the General AT2's.
