I pulled a Ranger almost that heavy behind V-10 E-450, no problems. The gearing, transmission, cooling system are designed for combined weight of 20,000 pounds, some 6000 pounds more than the motorhome weighs at its heaviest.
F-450 with V-10, I don't know. Every F-450 I've seen has been a diesel, although the V-10 with manual transmission was standard equipment for F-450 and F-550. So I've no real world experience with V-10 in the heavier trucks. I do know that the GCWR of the F-450 with V-10 and 4-speed automatic, in 2004, was 22,000, a 7000 pound margin over the maximum truck weight. With those ratings, a 3500 pound tow should not be a problem if it has its own braking.
Do you have a particlar model year in mind? I know the more recent F-450s, built alongside the F250/350 by Ford, are somewhat different from the earlier F-450/550 built for Ford at a custom chassis supplier, with which I am more familiar, box trucks and stake trucks rather than RVs built on back.
