Even the RVIA has adopted some of the pertinent NFPA fire codes. It is a violation of the NFPA code to gas up your motorhome while the LP fridge is operating off the LP, or while any other device is operating off the LP. The flame in those devises are considered a open flame which is not permitted within 25 foot, in any direction, of the fuel pump islands. It is also a violation to fuel the LP tank while the LP tank's main valve is turned on, which is part of the same fire codes. That means that any state or local fire marshall or code enforcement officer, can write you for violating the local fire code, or they can direct a LEO to do so, depending on how the local or state law grants them authority. But you are not suppose to do it. And it you think it is okay, well it is not just your life that is in danger, but the life of every one around your. And if you think it is okay, fine - cause one of these days it will go boom! Stupid is as stupid does!
That's why the RVIA regulates the fuel inlet to be on the opposite side of the rv from the flame appliances.
