All you have to do is visit your local fire department and ask them to dig out the NFPA code concerning open flame at the fuel pumps and the code concerning fueling operations concerning LP tanks. They will be happy to show it to you and explain how every state in our union has adopted these codes. The code specifically says no open flame within 25 foot of the fuel islands. It does not say that the LP fridge has a open flame, but they do consider it to be a open flame considering the design of the burner unit.
