Just turn the 12 volt coach system off while fueling so gas appliances can't light or stay lit. Turn it right back on after replacing the fuel tank cap. If you spilled some fuel on the ground, drive away to the side of the gas station then turn the 12 volt coach system back on.
That's so easy to do that it's not worth a long discussion as whether to do it or not to do it. Merely play it safe. :R
