Yes you can run the furnace while driving.
The concern is CO, not CO2.
The trailer can easily build up CO from the trucks exhaust anytime you are towing.
Do you hate the dog? You may open the trailer some day to find a dead dog either from CO or bouncing around, whether you run the furnace or not.
Would you ride in the trailer, would your spouse? I bet you wouldn't do it a second time. Make other arrangements for the dog.
I don't like dogs but I do respect living creatures.
