Yes you can run the furnace while driving.
Would you ride in the trailer, would your spouse? I bet you wouldn't do it a second time. Make other arrangements for the dog.
I don't like dogs but I do respect living creatures.
I've ridden in mine and it really isn't bad at all. Sure rides better then riding in the back of an ambulance. I thot it might be noisy back there but it was such that a normal conversation could be had. In my 5th wheel I can leave, and do, things on the counter etc and it is still there when I arrive at the destination. If in fact it was that bad nothing would be where it is supposed to be. My 5th does not have shock absorbers so it could be made even smoother I suppose.
I know that here on RV.net riding in the back is a strict no-no but looking at the build of some motorhomes I have more protection then they, and I'm the one riding not an RV.net anti rider. You do what you want with yours, I'll do what I want with mine. I paid for it, not you.
As for running the furnace. I usually set mine at 50 degrees and let it roll. When we stop for lunch break I'll turn it up and then back down to roll again. Been doing it for years and will probably keep doing it for more years.
