So I'm sitting here at Walmart, 78.8 f with wind blowing through the windows, it's 11:45 pm... We cant get down the road 100 mph wind gusts and tornado warningsCan't sleep, it's just too hot. My inverter geny is a Honda, not loud... But, not silent either. Generator or not?

Depends on what's around you. If you're out in the south 40 with no houses near by, I'd turn it on for a while to cool down. Do you have other RVs next to you? And if there's that much wind blowing, no one will hear it above the other noise.Bill

Doesn't the Walmart parking lot usually have engines running in it anyway?

In a public parking lot, I'd fire it up, but make sure it's secured in some way.

I've run my two Hondas at Walmart before without any issues. If someone had complained or if the store manager would of ask us to shut down I would have.

It's their property therefore it's their rules.

So the wind began howling pretty badly, I tethered the geny with a bike lock and lit it up. 7 hours later we still couldn't hear it.

Run it! As long as you are around the outer edge of the parking lot who are you really going to bother. I keep my generator in the bed of my truck and use it quite often at walmart to run AC during really hot times or when I need to charge my batteries.

I have NEVER hesitated to run my ONAN QUIET DIESEL generator while overnighting at WALMART. But, their parking lot, their rules,...so ask them.

I always tether my genny to the truck with a cable motorcycle lock (Master Lock). If they want to steal it, the need to work at it...hard.
