R V prices are up

The overall sales numbers have been increasing over the past couple of years, so the prices have increased and the discounts aren't as great. It seems that many of the big advertised discounts became less after 2011 as sales improved.

I get emailings from CW. The MSRP on the same RV changes from email to email. RV show discount must be a number obtained from a spinning wheel. Any business will increate their prices, then lower them, calling it a sale or discount. I called out my salesman on price fluctuation and got up to walk away when they would not haggle with me. Didn't get out the door before being called back - well, we did linger for a minute...

Friends of ours sold their TT in 3 days, not all bad news with prices going up, more incentive for newbys to get one used.

Through the years, it seemed to be that the RV show "sale" price was a pretty good indicator of what might be a fair price. Anybody can MSRP a number, but what you pay is the prize.
The past two years, the show discount isn't reasonable. Our trailer now costs twice what it cost six years ago! Really?
I wonder if the Baby Boomer movement is a reason.
Anyway, we had a very good time at the show!

I don’t know if there is a best time of the year… it would depend on the individual… end of year means settling for what you can find, and if you can find… then the dealer has his cost and the years’ worth of floor plan to recover… I never saw much value in show pricing unless there was a significant manufactures incentive thrown in…

If there is a best time I think it is ordering new just as the model year is changing… when you get next year’s model at this year’s pricing… your trailer is always a year newer for trade or sell purposes… I bought my 2000 in 1999 and my 2004 in 2003… I don’t think I paid any premium for doing so…

they charge more at Shows...
it cost them to enter show. tow stuff there,
return stuff to dealer location, employees hours.
meals, hotels,

way better for end of year specials.
just like car shows.

an everyone knows MSRP is smoke and dreams.

Prices are up and the quality is no Better than before. Same cheap stuff.

The higher the posted/supposed MSRP the better (higher) the discount ("show special price") the dealers can offer the show goers.

If you are willing to *order* an RV (vs buying from dealer stock) - the "deals" are always there!..;)

What's in a name? (Nothing really - it's just a catchy dealer name).
As the delaer called "rvwholesalers" gained popularity - "shoppers" believed the name said it all.
Then -(3 years ago")- and now.....there were, and are - other dealers who would match or beat rvwholesalers price.

You just need to put out the effort (the internet is your friend) to find one..:)
