So you wish to replace your 120V surround sound receiver, if I'm understanding you correctly?
There are a lot of good choices out there. I have a Panasonic XA-58 at home. It is no longer made but is a really good receiver, 95 watts/6 channels, measured, through a splendid Class D amp.
In the TT, I use an older NAD stereo receiver with two pairs of speakers. The NAD has no lower LFE channel and doesn't decode 5.1, 7.1 or other. I don't feel I'm missing much.
I would suggest to look for an inexpensive surround sound receiver at one of your local electronic outlets. It will have the connectivity you need and doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles as a typical, higher end residential unit. Yamaha and Pioneer are two names I trust.
Ok, a "surround sound receiver" is what I need. I did some initial searching and found only complete systems with new speakers and all.
this time I used the correct search term and found exactly what I was thinking of.
HOWEVER, the cost of a new unit has me rethinking repair vs replacement. On further research, I find that my current unit is not as great as I thought. It actually came out in 2002 and was quite cheap back then. It does have the cd/dvd player built in but reviews show very poor quality and guess what? A serious speaker output problem with the system overheating and blowing the output circuits.
Well guys, I guess I will dump it all and go with a current model "movie theater in a box" and just "Be Happy"!
Thanks for the input and advice. Once again, the folks on RV.net come to the rescue of those of us who are novices!
I consider this topic closed.
Thanks to all and have a Great Labor Day!
