Rant about Rants

When someone posts a rant here, they are often frustrated and at their wits end. I get that.

They want to be heard. I get that also. I am also interested in reading. Maybe I can learn something or even help out.

Then why do many page long rants appear without even one paragraph break?

If you want your rant to be read, give these old eyes a break, and use paragraph breaks. Otherwise, I will just give up, and move on thus negating the purpose of rant completely.

Thank you for allowing my rant.

Carry on.

  • Marcel Proust was known to compose gramatically correct, properly punctuated sentences , 600 to 800 characters long. I can't imagine how long his paragraphs ran. I guess he couldn't post here, without causing a rant.

I think it's also due to the fact they have dropped so many classes in schools that teach the simple basics of how to read and write the English language! :B

I agree - it's just too hard. But, then there is spelling. Some folks apparently don't reread what they wrote. I'm not talking about folks that really don't spell well - I still want to read them, but when it is perfectly obvious that the poster didn't read over what they wrote - then I wonder... Especially in a rant about how to write. :h

I'll, at least, try to read in case there is something I might be able to add to the thread, but if it's first thing in the morning or after a hard day's work, my eyes just can't handle everything running together, so I just give up. I wish I didn't have to, but that's just how it is -- I will move on to something that takes less effort to read.

  • Too funny. Just two minutes ago, I was thinking the very same thing. Weird.
