The late DW and I used the 2/2/2 rule. Stop at 2:00PM or 200 miles whichever comes first, stay 2 days. We learned this from some fellow RV'rs we met our first year traveling. If we didn't stay 2 days, we wouldn't sight see and would have missed SO much. We could make it across the country in a month or less, but lots of times we would find a great place to stay for a week or so.
Don't know how it will work now that I'm alone, but it probably won't be faster.
