The Dinghy Towing forum is better suited for your question. Perhaps do some searching there. FMCA and Motorhome magazine both publish towing quides. CRV up to 2014 can be towed. My current Jeep might be heavier than you want. Both of these cars have automatic trannys.

Flat towing also involves a tow bar, base plate, aux brake, lights and possible charging line.
