Our first camping trip with our trailer I'll never forget. My husband,(who doesn't really camp much) tied our garbage to the handrail outside the door. I warned him before not to ever do that. Well you can only warn. I guess he had to learn on his own because after going to bed no more than 30 minutes later we hear this loud "bam, bam" going on outside. I turn to my hubby and say what was that, you need to go check. He gets up and opens the door and outside is a raccoon hanging on to the garbage bag trying to scratch the contents out. My husband tries to scare him away with a flash light (which of course doesn't work) and then had to use the broom. Relectantly the raccoon goes off to the bushes with a trail of garbage behind him. My husband brings in the garbage bag which is torn up with scratched holes and tears throughout. He said, didn't you hear me calling you, I was being attacked by a raccoon. I laughed for days. I told him thats why you never set the garbage outside. I'm pretty sure he's learned his lesson. It's a story we'll never forgot.
