I might claim Oracle Certified Professional since version 5, but they didn't figure out that revenue stream until sometime around version 7-ish...

but I did start out with CP/M, MS-DOS, RSX-11, and VMS when windows were what you looked through to check the weather :)

I agree the new website is horrible. I've been in IT since before IT was called IT. I would bet with a high degree of confidence that the website development was off-shored.
My old account information could not be verified after the new deployment - even though it recognized my old username. It insisted that my driver's license number could not validate the account, but was happy enough to use my passport information. Suspicion level ramped up another level on personal information harvesting from yet another intrusive source.

Wisconsin state parks are also in the process of completely changing their reservation vendor next week.... We’ll see how that pans out...

I can not even log in. Being told that I must establish a new password and can't. Try to log in and am told that the password is invalid. Try to reset password and nothing works.

The new designers obviously don't camp plain and simple.

I suspect part of the new site development was dependent on the degree of cooperation the new contractor got from the losing contractor. I wouldn't be at all surprised if that cooperation was a bit lacking... ;)

Having worked for many years for the gov't,(and thankfully retired) I've seen this happen before, the techs design & build a site with absolutely NO knowledge of what the end user needs or wants it to do, they then field the site (or upgrade) for use, then go back many times to fix the problems while the users are getting frustrated because it doesn't work as it should. I guess it would make too much sense to test the program BEFORE fielding, with actual user input. :S

Too sophisticated sometimes in not so honorable ways bent on making money. I have nothing against profiting, but success should be based on how much good you do for others as well.
