I use dyed fuel in my tractors and anything that is not for road use. One little thing that no one has mentioned yet, IT IS A FELONY. Your life will change forever. 20 years ago a neighbor got caught with it in 3 of his farm trucks that were used for off road. The trucks were also licensed as he used them on road during off season using taxed fuel. You can't run off road (dyed fuel) in a vehicle with a license plate. $10,000 for each truck and a felon for life. The feds would come in his yard every few months for years to check again.
Why I don't screw with it. Just as easy to compute the gallons used for ag and apply for the tax rebate. Typically, on a 1,000 gallon fill I might use 100 gallons on road and 900 off road. I have a per gallon meter on the tank so I know what I pump all the time.
I always add biocide and Archoil fuel additive too. Played the algae game before. Not pretty but pretty expensive.
Last summer at the tractor pulls, they were in the parking lot sticking fuel tanks. I drove my car, not the truck. Don't know if they got anyone or not. If they did, was their own fault.
