I didn't read all 6 pages of this thread. On the farm we have 2 diesel tanks. One for off road tractors, and one for on road trucks. We must be very careful about that. They police sometimes set outside of town in the fall and pull people over at random. They test for that and have portable scales in there vehicle to test for overweight conditions too. I've been pulled over and it's scary but, I have never gotten into trouble because we keep everything as legal as we can. MN has inspections now for any vehicle over 28000 pounds ( I think it's 28)
I did get a written warning once because they said I had too much weight on the front axle of a straight truck. We have a tag axle in the middle of that truck and we just turned up the air pressure that works as the springs on that axle and hope for the best. Haven't been pulled over with that truck since so hopefully it will pass the next time.
