I read in some blogs that the "smarter" inspectors are starting to take samples from the water/fuel separators & fuel filters.
Which is going to be the same color fuel as sucked out of the tank. Will it stain the filter media? I believe it does. I've not noticed it, but I've also not been looking for it. My primary filter on the truck (cartridge, can see the paper in the filter) usually looks mostly black.
