My experience was closer to Grunt's:
My WW's wheelbase was 28' (hitch to center axle). For weight distribution purposes (as far as unloading the tongue) the rear axle is probably a better measurement, which would have put it closer to 32' from the hitch. When I carried my minivan in the trailer, the engine was just about over the front axle. I don't think it affected tongue weight whatsoever. Even when I loaded a couple 6-pack welder racks into the back (just forward of the dovetail), I don't think it took very much off the front. It was just enough the cancel out the full fresh water tank. All the other equipment (~6,000 lbs total) sat directly over the axles.
