Reese or B&W 5th Wheel hitch?

Just bought a new 2016 Ford F350 DRW truck. Now I need a hitch. Pulling a heavy trailer. trying to decide between the Reese and the B&W 3300 hitch. both fit the Ford Puck system. the Reese is rated to 25K while the B&W is only rated to 20K, right at my limit. Would welcome comments on these two hitches.
  • I would tow with a 20K B&W any day before a 25K REESE. Just compare them side by side.

B&W tests their hitches to the lowest parts. As in hitch footprint and mounting strength of the pucks/frame.

B&W is rock solid no color coding to determine hitching. Just close the handle with the pinbox/hitch plates touching and 1" thick machined jaws wrapped around the kingpin. You are hitched NO question.

  • Like our B&W companion because it has simple positive jaw lock to confirm hook up.

Not familiar with the Reese wheel you are looking at.
  • B&W is a high quality 100 percent American made product. Most of Reese's products are now made in China, and they're not any less expensive because of it either. However, if you're going to be over the limit, get whichever hitch is needed for the trailer weight.
  • I'v noticed popularity of 5th whell hitch brands vary from website to website and from RV folks to folks that pull trailers for a living.

Both hitches are well made and will do the job. Either one can do the job.

I would pick one with a bit of reserve capacity for long term reliability and a possible heavier trailer in the future.
  • B&W gets a lot of praise here. But I have the Reese Elite in my F350 puck system and is a great hitch. I like the shape of the Reese Elite base as the arch allows me to carry 8' lumber or other long items under the hitch when I am not towing, which is most of the time. Or even when I am towing if I want.

    Can't go wrong with either.
