I've heard several complaints about the Reese China made products.
It's not so much the country of origin as much as the QC.... Coach purses are made in China yet the craftsmenship is excellent...it's all about the QC and the pride of the company making the product.
I personally like the Curt shanks like this one.

Something about the gussets make me feel like this company cares about strength. And I have never heard about a Curt product failure
Never mind that their WD hitch has dual mounts for sway control :)
